We are all busy with our daily lives and goals. By chasing them, we forget the souls who are being the backbone for us. The person could be your mom, sister, wife, or friend who stands with you always. They ensure to be behind the screens running for you and your goals. Have you asked them about their dreams? What did they want to achieve?

Neither did Anu in this story knew about her mom’s dreams until she had this conversation with her Amma(Meena).

It was Diwali time. Meena was standing beside the door, waiting for her daughter’s arrival. She was enthralled to show Anu her new rangoli design, that she planned for this year.

As soon as her daughter arrived, she served Anu’s favorite food and waited for her to rest awhile. When she showed the designs, Anu asked her mom,

“Amma, why are you excited so much about this petty thing? Don’t you have anything else to do?”

Meena was very upset hearing this, and she returned to the kitchen. The next moment Anu realized that she had hurt her mom, who was excited to show her something. She ran behind her and apologized for her behavior. She then asked Meena,

“You have a lot of interest in these kinds of activities, have you dreamt about something big with this skill Amma?”

With a smile, she replied to her daughter “ Anu, amma was busy taking care of the family and supporting Appa. Time flew away, and I did not think about it as well.”

Swirled in her thoughts, Anu shot her next question to Meena. “When appa had his dreams and strived hard to achieve it, you could have also worked on it parallelly. Did he not support you?”

She grinned and gave a pat on Anu’s back.

Anu did not leave it there she continued bombarding Meena with a plethora of questions. Finally, Meena spoke out.

“Anu, I also had my dreams, but no one either supported nor asked me about what I wanted in my life. Your grandpa was busy looking out for a groom, and your grandma held engaged always. Eventually, I got acclimated to this situation and left my dreams behind.”

Hearing this, it turned out to be a shock for Anu. Unlike her, Meena did not get the opportunity to excel in her career. Though, she happily took over the responsibility, deep inside Meena regretted.

There are a lot of women like Meena, who had sacrificed their goals for your well being. Start asking every woman about their dreams you would be quite surprised to hear it. Hear them out and let’s join hands in supporting such selfless souls.
